I've almost finished the second book (Catching Fire), and I just can't wait to read the next one (Mockingjay), and I'm even more excited for the film of the first book that comes out on 23rd March.
Basically, for anyone that has been hiding under a rock, the trilogy is about a girl called Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a place called Panem, which is North America, but around 100 years in the future. Panem is split into 12 different districts, and then the Capitol. The Capitol rules the twelve districts and forces them to take part in the annual "Hunger Games" for their entertainment. This means that two 12-18 year olds- one boy and one girl- are chosen in a lottery type draw, put in an arena and forced to fight to the death until only one of them remains and therefore becomes the winner.
So when Katniss has to enter the Hunger Games and the boy from her district turns out to be more than just a neighbour, it makes for compelling reading.
I literally couldn't put it down and haven't met anyone who hasn't enjoyed it. I love the way that the Capitol is described- just the way I imagine the future to be and I love the twists and turns of the story.
If you are one of the few people who hasn't read these books, I urge you to read them now!
